What is the GMAT?
The GMAT is a computer assessment of analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in standard written English in preparation for being admitted into a graduate management program, such as an MBA. The test is called a CAT, or Computer Adaptive Test, both because it is administered on a computer and because the test actually changes based upon how one answers the questions. The GMAT is required by most business schools, though the scores vary in importance at different schools.
In addition to your GMAT score, schools consider the extent and caliber of your work experience (especially for more competitive programs), undergraduate GPA, letters of recommendation, interview and essays.
Where can I find GMAT resources?
GMAT practice tests are available at www.mba.com. Do you recommend that I take them?
We recommend that you NOT use anything from www.mba.com until you think you are absolutely ready to take the test. The tests at MBA.com provide a strikingly accurate estimation of what you will actually score on test day BUT they can only be taken twice. On the third attempt, you will start to see questions repeated, rendering the test useless in terms of predicting your score. We recommend that you take the official MBA.com examination one or two sessions before you plan to sit and take the actual GMAT in order to determine if you are really ready to pay $250 and take a day off of work to write this test.
Where can I find information about registration, test centers and dates?
You must register to take the GMAT in advance by phone or email; walk-in GMAT registration at test centers is not accepted. The GMAT is given around the country and the world at Pearson VUE testing centers. Enter your zip code here to find a test center near your location.

How many sessions are usually needed for Lexington Tutoring, LLC's GMAT preparation and what is covered in the sessions?
Our tutors' GMAT preparation program is usually a ten to fifteen week course of 2-hour sessions designed to thoroughly review all sections of the test, instill confidence in the content areas and familiarize students with test directions, types of questions, and test-taking strategies. Diligent between-session studying can reduce the number of sessions needed.
After each session, the tutor provides a detailed report on what has been covered which includes suggestions as to what material to study before your next session and when and how to make the best use of the practice tests in your study guide bundle. There is no additional charge for these post-session reports.
